GETTR, launched July 4, 2021, is a social media platform for American conservatives. It was created by Jason Miller to provide breaking political news stories, op-ed commentary, and insights not found in the biased mainstream media GETTR is promoted as “A Marketplace of Ideas”. The website’s welcome message is “A brand new social media platform founded on the principles of the free speech, independent thought and rejecting political censorship and \u201ccancel culture\u201d.<\/p>\n

Immediately upon it’s launch, the new social media platform GETTR was received with great fanfare among political conservatives. As with many high profile website launches, the initial launch was plagued with brute-force hacking attempts from around the world. Per the Tech Crunch website, “The company is positioning itself as an alternative for anyone who believes that mainstream social networks are hostile to far right ideas. Gettr\u2019s website beckons new users with familiar Trumpian messaging: \u201cDon\u2019t be Cancelled. Flex Your 1st Amendment. Celebrate Freedom.”1<\/sup> Obviously, Leftists everywhere are obsessing with a social media site that presents news that is counter to what they are being spoon-fed. The controversy stirred up by the left serves only to inspire more people on the Right to join this new platform.<\/p>\n

How to Join GETTR<\/h3>\n

Joining GETTR is easy, and it is FREE. The site layout, navigation and functionality is very similar to a well-known site with a bird icon. Joining is as easy as visiting the website<\/a> and creating an account. You can use the platform (website) on a desktop PC, or download their app for access from your favorite mobile device.<\/p>\n\n

If It’s Not Left, It Must Be Right<\/h3>\n

In only 11 days of being live, GETTR secured nearly 2 million users. The wildly popular site has since multiplied its user base despite the massive negative attacks from a multitude of left-leaning websites. Although former President Donald J. Trump does not own the GETTR website, left leaning media organizations are invoking his name to attack the new social media platform. <\/p>\n

An example is Business Insider, which has published multiple highly critical articles about the site. After less than one month after the launch, Business Insider contributor Grace Panetta (does the last name sound familiar?) wrote an article seemingly trying to paint the site as pro-ISIS. The article stated, “Politico reported that GETTR …is now a hotbed of pro-ISIS and jihadist content, including graphic videos of beheadings and other jihadist and terroristic content. “.2<\/sup> For the record, a recent search of the GETTR website did not return any ISIS related or similar hate-group content.<\/p>\n\n

While people like Ms. Panetta try to align GETTR with the likes of ISIS, other websites correctly cite that GETTR has been hacked by at least one Islamic militant<\/a>, a Twitter user who goes by @JubaBaghdad. GETTR has also been plagued with fake accounts posting short-lived controversial content.<\/p>\n

GETTR has taken a positive perspective on the hacking and negative attention. GETTR CEO Jason Miller is quoted by World Wire as having said, “You know you\u2019re shaking things up when they come after you. The problem was detected and sealed in a matter of minutes, and all the intruder was able to accomplish was to change a few user names. The situation has been rectified and we\u2019ve already had more than half a million users sign up for our exciting new platform!”3<\/sup><\/p>\n\n

Notables on GETTR<\/h3>\n

The new platform is home for the voices of many well-known and popular conservative voices. Among the list of intelligent and informed contributors are, Dinesh D’Souza, Laura Ingrahm, Sean Hannity, and Kevin McCarthy.<\/p>\n\n

In summary, like it or not, the conservative platform is growing in popularity. Why? Because in an online world of conservative voices being banned and censored, GETTR provides a social media platform for conservatives. As long as people on the Left continue their attacks the 1st Amendment Right to free speech on other platforms, their audience will grow. People are flocking to GETTR to flee hate and unite to express themselves in an environment where they can minimize hateful attacks. <\/p>\n\n
